All DFS Memorials members in Canada are funeral homes and cremation providers who can meet our promise of offering quality service at a fair price.  We believe in the ‘local’ and sustaining local communities and businesses across Canada.  Therefore, our network has been established by selecting licensed funeral homes that share this ethos.  They guarantee to offer you a simple, direct fair-priced funeral or cremation.  No elaborate or convoluted ‘traditional’ funeral with lots of hidden extra costs.  All our funeral providers offer a straight forward fixed-price package for a simple funeral and/or a direct cremation.  The packages offered will clearly state the basic services that constitute the disposition.  Of course, you may choose in consultation with the funeral provider, to add additional elements to your funeral service or cremation.

A Direct Cremation* in Canada will typically include the following:

  • collection of the deceased from the place of death (hosptial, care home, hospice, home etc.)
  • the basic services of a funeral director
  • transportation of the remains
  • the crematorium/cremation fees
  • a basic receptacle for the cremated remains
  • obtaining and filing all necessary certificates and permits for cremation
  • returning the cremains to the family or next-of-kin

A Simple Burial* in Canada will typically include the following:

  • transfer of remains to the funeral home
  • embalming (some funeral homes may charge extra for embalming)
  • the basic services of a funeral director and staff
  • the use of facilities for a viewing and the funeral ceremony (or supervision of ceremony at other facility)
  • utility vehicle and hearse
  • all relevant administration
Unlike cremation, a simple burial service may inccur additional costs such as; a cemetery plot, a casket and grave marker

*Note:  The inclusive services may vary between providers, and dependent upon funeral industry legislation between provinces.
